I'm so happy to finally be able to show you the final reveal of "The Mazy" guest room with a rich, bold color palette. The second of two mirrored armoires was on back order for several months, however, it finally arrived and I immediately got it installed.
You can see the design concept I came up with above. I new this room would never be light and bright because it only had two windows, and they both were north-facing. With that in mind, I decided to go bold with the color palette and bring elegance and moody to the forefront.
I wanted this space to have a lot of visual interest, and while I was going to go bold with the color palette ("Magenta" by Benjamin Moore), I wanted to elevate it a tad with applied moulding to create the illusion of paneled walls.
It was also important that I design it to make sure the space felt at home with the other neutral, black and white rooms in the house. To achieve this, and to bring in added visual texture, I chose to install a black and white wallpaper mural on the bed wall.
I chose to paint the third paneled wall black which really brought the drama. Before I brought in all the furniture pieces, I installed this natural jute rug to ground the whole space and to provide a juxtaposition to all the other bold choices.
I layered the bed with relaxed textiles to make it impossible to not want to jump right on in.
Every guest room should have a seating element, and this leather settee with nailhead trim was the perfect choice for this space. Add in the extra storage with the mirrored armoires . . . and a beautiful RH desk in the other corner, and guests should have everything they need.
I had a different chandelier chosen before work started in the space, however, once I saw the existing chandelier hanging amongst the pink and black walls, I new it had to stay. It brought a splash of elegance that perfectly suited the room.
The pink floral pillow shams from Anthropology on the bed tied it in beautifully with the pink walls.
